Leading a team and fronting great care are my passions. Being able to own my own business and make decisions on the spot to do what needs doing is a privilege and responsibility that I don't take lightly. Cook St Nursing Care Centre is a fun and caring place that I am very proud to run with my husband Wayne.

Hi, I'm Wayne Porter and co own Cook St Nursing Care Centre with Anna. My job here is to keep everything running smoothly, from having food in the kitchen and cleaning supplies onsite to the day to maintenance around the building . I make sure that your family members have what they need, when they need it. I take our responsibility to residents, family and staff very seriously - while having fun at the same time.

I initially took up nursing to take better care of my grandfather. Unfortunately he passed away on my second year of study. I persevered and earned my Bachelor's degree back in 2011 in the Philippines. I then received my registration on the same year and did about a year and a half of volunteer work as a medical-surgical nurse at one of the local hospitals. Later on I was accepted to a tertiary hospital and worked in the Emergency Department for a couple of years. I proceeded to take up the Competency Assessment Programme for Overseas Registered Nurses late 2016 in UCOL and received my registration here in New Zealand. Wanting to return to my initial calling for Aged Care, I applied to Cook Street Nursing Care Centre and have been working here since. I remain passionate in caring for the elderly and have made great friendships with them. I look forward to continuing my work in trying to improve their quality of life, even just by a little.
